Blue Dog – The go to Date Spot in Glasgow

The perfect date night spot in Glasgow, with live Jazz music and a subdued romantic environment, Blue Dog on Glasgow’s West George Street is a must to visit with a partner to spend a dreamy night together. The burnt orange interior paired delicately with the candle lit table settings provide the ideal location. 

At the forefront of the venues draw ins is the grand piano and the stage offering space for musicians and regulars to serenade customers with all kinds of live performances. The interior, resonating down town New York, will truly wow with its grand bar and stage lighting. Although in contrast, the frontage lacks the modernisation and renovation that the interior has achieved so well. Unfortunately, the frontage does reduce the curb appeal, however, once inside this is swiftly forgotten about. 

On offer are carefully curated cocktails, ranging from the classic cocktails that most of us know and love, to some of the entity’s own creations, creatively blending flavours from all kinds of liquors and spirits. A smaller range of wines and sparkling wines are also on offer. Though not advertised on the menus, and they perhaps should be, there is a small selection of bottled beers also available to customers. The cocktails look exquisite, presented delicately with pieces of fruit carefully balanced on gorgeous glasses. They are as tasty as they look too! Disappointingly, some of the cocktails are served as very small portions. I chose the sidecar, an orange flavoured cocktail mixing sweet and citrus. Although happy with the flavours, I was rather underwhelmed by the quantity – finished in about 3 small mouthfuls. For the price I was hoping for a lot more.

A fair 7/10 is the mark awarded. Great setting in the ideal romantic venue. Let down by the small size in cocktail but with plenty of others to choose from, top of the list for your next date night.
